Who Are We?
………………..
Who are we and why are we doing this?……………………………………………..
If you’ve opened up a copy of Better Homes & Gardens or Kitchen & Bath Ideas or Decorating Magazine, you might have seen the work of The DB editor, Cynthia Bogart, on those pages. Cynthia has been producing editorial articles for those magazines for years and has taken the opportunity to bring her experience from there over to here for you to get some interesting, enriching articles to lighten up your day, five days a week.
In addition to those great magazine subjects, we’ve added a heavier dose of the YOU element. We understand a few things about YOU …
- You LOVE your magazines
- You have no time for anything anymore – life is too busy
- You hold down somewhere between one to four full time jobs – worker bee, mother, wife and/or volunteer
- You have become functional on your computer but still remember when the telephone was the only way to chat with your friends
- You need to feel enriched
- And for once, you would like it to be all about YOU and not everyone else
This is an editorial blogazine. That means that there is no pay for editorial content. We choose what you see everyday, no one else. We do, however, have advertisers and sponsors that you will see noted as such just like in the magazines!
Welcome to the Daily Basics, Home Style, Life Style and You Style!
Cynthia Bogart – Editor
Mom, Wife, Magazine Editor… in that order. Cynthia Bogart was a commercial artist & interior designer prior to becoming a magazine editor, stylist and producer. She has been working for Meredith Corporation and has been producing articles for Better Homes & Gardens, Traditional Home, Country Home, Window & Wall Ideas, Kitchen & Bath Ideas, Beautiful Homes and others since 1994. After 9/11, Cynthia, her husband, three kids and two dogs decided to leave New York for life in Rhode Island where they feel like they’ve gotten back to basics of living and are on an island filled with history, great people and fabulous beaches.
Shelley Caroe – Assistant Editor & Research
Shelley Caroe has been researching her whole life. Whether that be for one of the books she worked on with Alvy Ray Smith FASG co-founder of Pixar as his research associate, or just simply trying to find the best organic milk on the shelves. During the early years of her working life, Shelley spent fifteen years managing the flow and distribution of pre-sale municipal bonds as well as the distribution of reports to many major news institutions. As mentioned above, Shelley helped Alvy Ray Smith in the creation of two nationally recognized books published through Newbury press. The Daily Basics is purely just a portal for Shelley to share with others what she finds intriguing. Shelley loves finding different things that bring us back to the quality of yesteryear as well as the fun and chic trends that people are taking part in today.
