A French Word A Day

The blog is called, A French Word a Day, and the book is Words in a French Life both written by Kristin Espinasse.  The book is actually a product of her blog, which is a product of her life as an American married and living in Southern France.  Sounds romantic?  It is.  This blog and book are a perfect combination of a diary of an Arizona expat, French lessons and overtones of Peter Mayle’s books (A Year in Provence).

Qu’est-ce-qui est si fantastique

(What’s so fantastic?)

An Arizona gal through and through, Kristin majored in French at the University of Arizona and ended up studying in France, marrying Jean-Marc, a wine merchant turned organic vineyard owner and has two beautiful children

……….

Kristin’s blog is written in English with French words thrown in here and there in context.  While becoming totally enthralled in her ramblings about life on a vineyard, her husband and raising two children, you’ll learn your French vocabulary at the same time.  There are links for you to hear the pronunciation of the words online or references to connect to other sites which will help you explore the lessons of the day.  In addition, she’ll mention what to do in Aix-en-Provence or Paris and you can explore recommendations for other Anglo-French websites and everything else French. Oh, and don’t forget to check out husband Jean-Marc’s website on his vineyards.

Southern Fried French

When Lynn McBride was living and working in Charleston, South Carolina as an editor for Meredith Publications, living in a chateau in the French countryside was the farthest thing on her mind until one day…  While on vacation, her family went around the dinner table and asked each person to tell what great adventure they wanted to have before they died.

Charleston, SC transplant, Lynn McBride, blogs about living with husband, Ron, in a chateau in Burgundy, France. Look for Lynn's guest post on The Daily Basics soon!

Recalling her High School French 101 textbook and how she had fantasized about France when in class, the totally unadventurous Lynn blurted out that she wanted to live in the French Countryside.  She astounded her husband as much as she had herself but it started them thinking.  Thinking turned to exploring and surprise… Lynn and husband, Ron,  moved to France.  Herein lie the tales of their bucolic life and a culinary delight a week that will only put a smile on your face.
